WSOC: All three CW teams advance to semifinal Saturday at nationals

SYDNEY, NS - The top three teams in the Canada West proved that the conference features some of the best soccer in the country after they all advanced to the national semifinals at the U SPORTS Women's Soccer national championship in Sydney, Nova Scotia.
The MacEwan Griffns, UBC Thunderbirds and Trinity Western Spartans all reigned victorious in their quarter-final matchups on Thursday at Cape Breton University. UBC and MacEwan will face each other on Saturday at 11 a.m. AST for the second time this post-season after previously meeting in the Canada West semifinal. The Thunderbirds took the previous meeting at the Canada West Final Four, 2-0.
MacEwan earned their first win at a national championship with a 2-1 win over the Queen's Gaels on Thursday.

UBC got past the Acadia Axewomen 2-1, needing penalty kicks to advance to the semifinal.

The Canada West champion Trinity Western Spartans cruised to a 4-0 win over the host Cape Breton Capers in Thursday's quarter-final matchup and will play Laval in their semifinal match at 1:30 p.m. AST.
