WSOC: 2021 all-stars announced
The UBC Thunderbirds led the way with three first team all-star selections, while the Trinity Western Spartans, Saskatchewan Huskies, MacEwan Griffins, and Calgary Dinos each placed two players on the first team.
UBC's Danielle Steer (attacking), Sophia Ferreira (defensive), and Emily Moore (goalkeeper) all earned first team honours for the second place finishers in the West Division.
Trinity Western's Elizabeth Hicks and Calgary's Montana Leonard both earned their way back onto the first team after being selected as first team all-stars in 2019. Leonard, who makes the first all-star team for the third straight season, set a new CW single-season goal scoring record with 17 goals in 2021.
Overall, both the Thunderbirds and Dinos received six all-star or all-rookie selections, the most of any school. Trinity Western boasts the next highest total with five.
The all-star and all-rookie teams were selected by the conference's 16 women's soccer head coaches.
