Huskies, Bears highlight Canada West men’s hockey all-stars and all-rookies

NEW WESTMINSTER – With the University of Saskatchewan Huskies set to host the University of Alberta Golden Bears in the Canada West men’s hockey final, Canada West Universities Athletic Association is proud to announce the 2015-16 conference men’s hockey all-stars and all-rookies.
Leading the all-star charge this season are the Alberta Golden Bears, who landed five combined players on the two all-star teams.
All five players from Alberta are fifth-year athletes, as Jordan Rowley (defencemen) and Kruise Reddick (forward) earned first team nods, while Thomas Carr (defencemen), Jordan Hickmott (forward), and Levko Koper landed on the second team.
While Alberta landed the most all-stars, Saskatchewan also had five players honoured, as goaltender Jordon Cooke (first team all-star), defencemen Kendall McFaull (first team all-star), defencemen Jordon Fransoo (second team all-star), along with forwards Kohl Bauml and Levi Cable (all-rookie team) all earned recognition.
In total, all six Canada West playoff teams had at least one player honoured.
There will be no shortage of all-stars and all-rookies on display this weekend when the Huskies and Bears drop the puck on the conference best-of-three conference final at Rutherford Rink Friday night in the 18th conference final meeting between the storied rivals.

After crowning a conference champion, both Saskatchewan and Alberta will head to Halifax for the CIS University Cup, which runs Thursday, March 17 through Sunday, March 20 at the Halifax Metro Centre.
