FB: CW prospects crack initial CFL Scouting Bureau rankings

VANCOUVER - Six Canada West student-athletes appear in the first edition of the CFL Scouting Bureau's rankings announced by the CFL on Wednesday.

Calgary's Jalen Philpot and Tyson Philpot, Alberta's Peter Jozushka and Jayden Dalke, and Saskatchewan's Adam Machart and Noah Zerr all cracked the fall rankings as CFL teams prepare for the 2022 CFL Draft.

Jalen Philpot was highest ranked Canada West player at No. 7. The third-year receiver was a Canada West All-Star in 2019 after racking up 767 yards and four touchdowns. Joining Philpot on the list at No. 15 is his Calgary teammate, and brother, Tyson Philpot.

A pair of Alberta Golden Bears cracked the list with offensive lineman Peter Jozushka checking in at No. 14 and defensive back Jayden Dalke at No. 19. Dalke earned the nod as a Canada West All-Star in 2019.

The Saskatchewan Huskies also tout a pair of top players listed by the Scouting Bureau. Reigning Canada West Player of the Year Adam Machart is the lone U SPORTS running back on the list at No. 18. Machart rushed for a Huskie record 1,330 yards in 2019. Joining Machart from the Huskies, is offensive lineman Noah Zerr at No. 20.

While Canada West players occupied six spots on the list, three other U SPORTS student-athletes appeared in the first set of rankings with Waterloo's Tre Ford (QB - No. 9) and Tyrell Ford (DB - No. 12), and Western's Zack Fry (OL - No. 13) among the rankings.

The rankings are released three times each season (fall, winter, spring) ahead of the CFL Draft, and are selected by CFL scouts, as well as, player personnel directors and general managers from the CFL's nine member clubs.
