Tylor Henry named Canada West CJFL Graduate of the Month for October

NEW WESTMINSTER – Alberta receiver and former Edmonton Wildcat Tylor Henry is the Canada West Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL) Graduate of the Month for October.

Henry had an outstanding final month for the Golden Bears, racking up 33 receptions, 485 receiving yards and four touchdowns during the month.

On the season, Henry finished fifth in the conference in receiving yards with 611 yards, with 298 of those yards coming in Alberta’s epic seven-overtime game against the Manitoba Bisons on October 22.

Despite the Bears dropping that game 67-59, Henry etched his name in the Canada West record book, with his 19 receptions in the game being the most in a single conference game, while his 298 receiving yards were just five yards shy of breaking the single-game record.

Henry’s 19 receptions tied the national record, equalling Wilfrid Laurier’s Andre Talbot, who posted 19 catches in a game against Guelph during the 2000 season.

The Camrose, Alta. native played his junior career with the Edmonton Wildcats of the Prairie Football Conference, playing a pair of seasons with the ‘Cats before joining Alberta in 2013.

Both the Canada West and CJFL will crown champions this weekend, as the 80th Hardy Cup is slated for Saturday at 1 p.m. MT in Calgary, where the UBC Thunderbirds and Calgary Dinos will battle for the second consecutive season.

In the CJFL, the Canadian Bowl is set for Saturday at 1 p.m. PT, as the BC champion Westshore Rebels welcome the PFC champion Saskatoon Hilltops to Langford, B.C.
