The Bison men’s hockey team finished the first half of the season with a road weekend sweep at UBC on December 1-2 and help the Bisons vault in third place in the Canada West standings.
Bison third year forward Brett Stovin was a big contributor in the two road victories as he recorded two goals (one was a shorthanded), and three assists and +5 plus/minus rating with seven shots plus named First Star of the Game.
To begin the weekend, the Stony Mountain, MB native scored two goals, one shorthanded, plus an assist with a +4 rating with four shots in a 7-3 victory. He was also named First Star for his performance.
The next night, the 6’1”, 195 lbs. forward added two assists with thee shots and a +1 rating during a 6-3 road win to earn the sweep.
So far this 2017-18 season, Stovin has scored three goals and eight assists in 16 conference regular season games, good for a tie for 33rd in conference scoring.
The Bisons (9-5-2) take the holiday break and resume conference action in the New Year as the host the No. 1 Alberta Golden Bears (15-1-0) on January 5-6 weekend.
