The number one ranked visitors controlled the majority of the contest, and made quick work of the Herd. Alberta was able to slam down 40 kills, while the home side was only able to hit 24. The Herd held a 22-20 lead, before giving up five straight points and falling 25-22 in the final set, and consequently losing the game. Kacey Otto won the final set for the visitors on one of the teams six service ace's.

"I think we realized we played with an energy you have to play with at this level" Bisons head coach Jon Hykawy said. "I was happy with the energy we had in the third set, and if we win that set who knows what happens."

The Herd opened the second set with their first lead of the game, via a kill by Kearley Abbott. But that was the only time they would hold the lead in the half, as the visitors won the set 25-14. Manitoba closed the gap in kills in the second set, only being out killed 13 to eight. Haille Bujan led the Bisons in kills, slamming down four within the set, Shauny Hogg also had four slams for the visiting side.
