Free Throws: Vikes return home to host 'Horns

To get you set for the latest weekend of Canada West women's basketball action, here are some storylines from around the conference in the latest edition of Free Throws.

 

Vikes return to CARSA to take on the Pronghorns

VICTORIA - The UVic Vikes women's basketball team will return to the friendly confines of the CARSA Performance Gym on January 20 and 21 when they host the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns.
 
The weekend gets underway on Friday night at 6 p.m. before the same two teams turn around and battle again at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
 
After five games on the road and a long holiday break, the game on Friday will be the Vikes first game action in the CARSA Performance Gym in almost a month.

Alberta hosts UFV in 'Shoot for the Cure' matchup

EDMONTON - The University of Alberta Golden Bears and Pandas basketball teams host just their second set of home games of 2017, as they play host to the UFV Cascades, this weekend at Saville Community Sports Centre. 

The 12-2 Pandas will clash with the 8-4 Cascades on the women’s side, while the 11-3 Bears tangle with the 5-7 UFV men.

Huskies invade the Jack to take on Dinos

CALGARY - The University of Calgary women's basketball team is looking forward to another highly anticipated weekend of action, as they are faced with a big matchup versus the University of Saskatchewan Huskies.
 
After collecting both a win and a loss this past weekend, the girls will be hoping to showcase their depth at every position, and mark the meet-up with a victory. Playing Fraser Valley, Calgary showcased much fight on Thursday night, bouncing back from a deficit, and closing the game at 69-59. Playing again on Friday, the team was handed their fourth loss of the season, as the Cascades were able to down the Dinos 60-69.
