Wesmen Complete Weekend Sweep In Convincing Fashion

The University of Winnipeg Wesmen completed a weekend sweep over the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns by posting a convincing 85-51 victory Saturday evening at the Dr. David F. Anderson Gymnasium in Winnipeg.

Wesmen fifth year guard Megan Noonan was on her game finishing with a game high 25 points, including five-three pointers. Fourth year guard Antoinette Miller capped off a solid weekend with a double-double 20 points and 13 rebounds.

Danielle Fritzke led the Pronghorns with 12 points, all on three point baskets. Teesha Olson added 10 points.

Winnipeg dominated the opening quarter racing out to a 29-14 lead and after outscoring the Pronghorns 30-15 in the second frame, the Wesmen went into the halftime break with a 59-29 lead,

The duo of Noonan and Miller combined for 30 first half points. Winnipeg connected on 51% of their shots from the field in the opening 20 minutes.

Lethbridge started the third quarter on a 8-0 run as Winnipeg did not score their first basket of the quarter until almost the eight minute mark. The Pronghorns outscored the Wesmen 14-7 but Winnipeg still had complete control leading 66-43.

Winnipeg outscored Lethbridge 19-8 in the final quarter to close out the 85-51 victory.

The win keeps Winnipeg unbeaten in regular season play with a 6-0 record. Lethbridge with the loss falls to 2-4.

Both teams will be in action on home court this Thursday. Winnipeg welcomes ther Brandon Bobcats. Lethbridge will play host to the Calgary Dinos.
