No shortage of storylines as Alberta hosts Trinity Western

EDMONTON - A monumental weekend is on tap at Saville Community Sports Centre this January 27-28 weekend as top 10 teams clash, defending national champions, FOG and record watches all descend upon the volleyball court on south campus.

In men’s volleyball action, the top ranked and defending Canada West and national champion Trinity Western Spartans (15-10) will take on the No.4 ranked Alberta Golden Bears (12-2), while on the women’s side, the No.1 ranked Pandas (14-0) will tangle with the No.3 ranked Spartans (15-1), a program that captured national silver last season.



Thompson Rivers sets sights on victories against Regina

KAMLOOPS - The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack men’s volleyball team returns to Canada West action this weekend.

After experiencing a bye week, the WolfPack (1-13) face off with the University of Regina Cougars (0-16) on the Warner Rentals Court at the Tournament Capital Centre on Friday and Saturday (Jan 27-28).

They are the first home matches of the 2017 Calendar year for the ‘Pack.



Dinos look to edge Thunderbirds

CALGARY – The University of Calgary Dinos men's volleyball team continues to make a run for the playoffs as they return home. The Dinos are scheduled to face the UBC Thunderbirds as they fight to get to the seventh place position in Canada West in order to make the playoffs.

Last week, the Dinos lost both games in their series against the Manitoba Bisons to drop to 7-9 in Canada West. The higher ranked Thunderbirds won both games in their series against the Mount Royal Cougars to rise to 10-6.
